In 1921, in London, arrogant and skeptical Florence Cathcart is famous for exposing false and help the police to arrest criminals. Unknown Robert Mallory said the director of a boarding school in Rookford invited her to come to Cumbria to investigate a deadly ghost scare students. He said that several years ago there was a murder in the area recently and student Walter Portman was dead. Reluctant Florence finally agreed to go to Cumbria. Upon arrival, she is greeted by the housekeeper Maud and son Thomas Hill.
